ISU students celebrate after bin Laden's death

Hundreds of students at Iowa State University marked the death of Osama bin Laden by taking to the streets in Ames, waving flags and chanting "USA."

Students wound their way through campus late Sunday and early Monday and ended up at Jack Trice Stadium after hearing the news of bin Laden's death in a firefight with American forces in his compound in Pakistan.

ISUtv posted a YouTube video of students celebrating on campus Sunday night. Students were waving and wearing American flags and several had beers in their hands. Campus police shown in the video said they were concerned about fireworks that had been set off and were monitoring traffic in the area, but that the gatherings had been peaceful.

Nineteen-year-old Jake Hawksworth says he remembers seeing the smoke from the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. Hawksworth, now a freshman at ISU, grew up near one of the targets of the attack masterminded by bin Laden. He says bin Laden has "finally paid the price."
