Fairfax man gets more than 17 years in prison for selling crack

A Fairfax man will spend more than 17 years in federal prison for selling crack.

Anton Cross, 32, who had three prior drug trafficking convictions and who sold crack cocaine to an undercover agent, was sentenced Thursday.

Cross pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine in October.

Court documents say that Cross admitted he conspired with others to sell crack cocaine in Cedar Rapids in May and June 2010.  He also admitted to selling crack cocaine to an undercover agent.

Cross had previously been convicted in Cook County, Illinois, of delivery of heroin and cocaine near a protected location in 1997, delivery of cocaine in 1999 and delivery of cocaine near a protected location in 1999.

Cross was also convicted of burglary in Linn County in 2004.

Cross was sentenced to 17 years and seven months in prison and 10-years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
