Panthers Prepare for Annual Spring Football

The University of Northern Iowa football team will hold its annual spring game on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the UNI-Dome. The Panthers will be divided into two teams and will compete for four quarters.

UNI head coach Mark Farley discusses what he's like to see on Friday.

"I want the players to just go out and play and not worry about being coached. Just go play, use your instincts and let the quarterbacks play and let the runningbacks make some runs. Let the athleticism come out and at the same time from a coaching perspective we still might find that one guy that we've got evaluated that can still out there that might make a play and move up on your two deep by just how he plays in the spring game," said Farley.

UNI returns 10 defensive starters and eight starters on offense from the team that finished 7-5 last season and won the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

The Panthers kick off the 2011 season on Sept. 3 when it plays at Iowa State.
