Your brain could be taking a nap

If you've been known to put your keys in the oven or the cereal in the fridge, you're not crazy! Your brain may have taken a quick nap!

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have found regions of nerve cells in a sleep-deprived brain can actually go into a sleep state while you're awake!

Until now, it was thought a lack of sleep affected the entire brain.  However, when researchers probed specific groups of neurons in the brains of tired rats, there were areas that were asleep although the animals were awake and active.

As the rats got fewer hours of sleep, they began to make more mistakes while they performed a series of tasks.
