Roughriders whip Muskegon 7-3 to clinch series 3-1

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Michael Parks found the net just over a minute into the contest.  Less than three minutes later, Peter Maric scored his second of the series to give the Riders a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Lumberjacks battled back as Matt DeBlouw scored early in the second period and Casey Thrush evened the game midway through the frame.  Cedar Rapids would stop the Lumberjacks momentum as Nick Saracino put the Riders ahead and the score was 3-2 after 40 minutes of play.

It was more Riders in the third as they scored the next three goals.  Justin Kovacs tallied just 24 seconds into the frame and Sam Warning scored a pair of goals to extend the lead.  John Parker added a power play goal for the Lumberjacks but it would not be enough as Stu Wilson capped the victory with an empty net goal for Cedar Rapids.

The Riders now move on to play the Green Bay Gamblers in the Eastern Conference Final which opens in Cedar Rapids for Game One on Friday.
