Downtown fire in Cassville ruled arson

CASSVILLE, Wis. (KWWL) -

A fire that destroyed several downtown buildings in the community of Cassville, Wis., has been ruled arson.

Our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald report Cassville Police Chief Brent McDonald says an investigation has determined that someone intentionally started the blaze April 19.

It broke out around 3:00 a.m. in an apartment on East Amelia Street and spread to the adjacent buildings. Two others buildings had water and smoke damage.

12 people living about the apartments were displaced.

Authorities have not released a financial estimate on the dollar amount of the damage.
