DJK talks about the NFL draft

Posted:

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Derrell Johnson-Koulianos isn't confident about his NFL draft prospects.  Despite a great career at Iowa, D.J.K. believes his legal problems will keep him off the board at next week's draft.

As a player, Johnson-Koulianos set the Hawkeyes' all-time record in receiving yards.  However, his drug arrest in December cost him his roster spot prior to the Insight Bowl.  He pled guilty to marijuana possession, but all other charges were dropped.

As for the upcoming draft, Johnson-Koulianos says that if a team does take a chance on him, they'll be getting a bargain.

"Anybody who does is going to get a steal.  They're going to get a second round, third round caliber player," said the former Hawkeye receiver, "What I'm doing right now is really just training hard, steering clear of anything that might affect me negatively, and hoping for the best, but maybe expecting the worst."

The NFL draft begins Thursday night.
