Two teens killed in Crawford County accident


The Crawford County Sheriff's Department confirms that two teenagers were killed in a head-on collision on Wednesday.

The initial investigation shows that 16-year-old Skyler Hammond was driving southbound near STH 27 and Granzow Lane in Eastman when he crossed the center line and hit a car driven by 52-year-old Rand Kramer.

In the car with Hammond were 15-year-old Brandon Buffington and his 11-year-old brother Austin Buffington.

People nearby when the accident happened rushed over to put out a fire that started in Hammond's car. The jaws of life were used to get Hammond and Brandon Buffington out of the car.

All four people involved in the accident were taken to the hospital. Hammond was pronounced dead at the hospital. Brandon Buffington died from his injuries after being airlifted to La Crosse. Austin Buffington was also airlifted to La Crosse and is in stable condition. Kramer was treated for a serious foot and leg injury in Prairie du Chien.

The accident remains under investigation.
