Train crash victims from southwest Iowa

The two railroad workers who died in a southwest Iowa train crash both lived in Creston.  A union official identified them as conductor Patricia "Trish" Hyatt and engineer Tom Anderson. Both were 48 years old.   Hyatt was a member of United Transportation Union Local 199. Anderson belonged to the engineers union.  The crash is still being investigated. It occurred Sunday in McPherson, about five miles west of Red Oak.  Authorities have said a coal train rear-ended a train carrying maintenance equipment, killing the conductor and engineer on the coal train. The two crew members on the other train were not injured. Their names have not been released.
