Wildcat Art Show in Janesville

More than 120 students submitted original art pieces to the Third Annual Wildcat Invitational Art Show in Janesville.

High school students from nine area schools submitted 166 pieces of art work.

"They have to be current art students for this school year. There's 21 different categories students can enter," said Janesville Art Teacher Wendy Stansbery.

Some of the categories included pencil drawing, mixed media drawing and photography.

"Just how you can be yourself and be creative and do basically whatever you want," said student Brandi Immerzeel.

Two UNI art professors and two UNI art students evaluated the work and awarded ribbons.

Teacher Wendy Stansbery said the show is a great opportunity to get all types of students involved with art.

"This was my first year taking art, and I didn't think I was a good drawer and then I did this," said football player Evan Bolt.

Janesville art students organized the show, including getting the submissions, hanging up all the art work and booking guest speakers for the day.
