Clark Cup Playoffs: Indiana Ices Waterloo 4-0 in game one.

Casey DeSmith stopped all 38 Waterloo Black Hawks shots on goal Thursday and the Indiana Ice won 4-0 in game one of a first round USHL Clark Cup playoff series at Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice broke the game open with three goals in the second. A delayed penalty was about to be called on the Black Hawks when Dan Cesarz banged in a rebound at 7:59. Shortly after a Waterloo power play had ended later in the period, a Daniel Tarasov steal led to a tic-tac-toe goal finished by Brian Ferlin; Blake Coleman was in the middle for the marker at 15:37. David Johnstone added an exclamation point, scoring at 17:53 on a wrist shot while rushing into Black Hawks territory.

Indiana added one more score in the late stages of the third period.  Blake Coleman's backhander found the net during an Ice power play.

In spite of the four goals allowed, C.J. Motte made 30 saves.

The Black Hawks meet the Indiana Ice for the vital second game in the best-of-three series Friday night at Pepsi Coliseum. Waterloo fans who would like to watch the action can head to Pepper's Sports Grill and Pub in Cedar Falls, where the broadcast from Indianapolis will be available, starting with the opening faceoff at 6:05 p.m.
