Escaped Inmate located in Black Hawk County


An escapee from the Iowa Department of Corrections is back in custody, located by Black Hawk County Authorities.

Sheriff's deputies and La Porte City Police took 24-year-old Shaine Boeckmann into custody after setting up surveillance at a home in Washburn Wednesday afternoon. 

That's after reports earlier in the day that Boeckmann was seen on Highway 218 two miles north of La Porte City that an escapee had been seen walking along the highway. Authorities went to the area, but. He was located in the 500 block of Maple Street in Washburn and taken into custody.

He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail.

Boeckmann had been incarcerated at the West Union Residential Facility. He also had a warrant issued for him out of Fayette County for Escape Voluntary Absence. The original charges were Trafficking In Stolen Weapons, Forgery and Furnishing Intoxicant To Inmates.
