Rachel Peth -- Athlete of the Week

Rachel Peth of Waverly Shell-Rock has had a stellar volleyball career as a Go-Hawk, but when it comes to the 400 meter oval, she can do a little bit of everything.

"She's a very versatile athlete," Go-Hawks Track Coach, Wende Dawson says, "She can run the 100's, 200's, 400's even though she doesn't like to, but through the years, we have focused on the 100's, the 200's along with the hurdles she brings a lot a talent good work habits."

As a junior, Peth won gold in the 100 meter hurdles at the state meet, bronze in the 200 meters and 4 by 100 meter relay, but the one that got away was the 100 meter dash, where Peth finished second by one hundredth of a second.

Peth will be attending the University of Northern Iowa in the fall to play volleyball, but she still has goals and unfinished business on the track.

"I still need to beat our school 200 record. That's a goal of mine." Peth says, "As a team it would be awesome if we could come out and win conference and districts. We haven't done that in a long time, we've been close, we got second, so it would be awesome if we came out and took those victories as a team.
