Former Agriprocessors manager arrested in Israel

Israeli authorities say a former manager at Agriprocessors has been arrested.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 46-year-old Hosam Amara, was arrested on March 31, in connection with federal charges he faces in Iowa.

Amara is charged with one count of conspiracy to harbor undocumented aliens for profit, 24 counts of harboring and aiding abetting the harboring of undocumented aliens for profit, one count of conspiracy to commit document fraud, and one count of aiding and abetting document fraud.

He is in custody in Israel pending an extradition hearing on May 2.

If convicted on all charges, Amara faces up to 260 years in prison, a $6,750,000 fine, $2,700 in special assessments, and 81 years of supervised release following any prison time.
