Cedar Rapids Kernels Open Season at Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Peoria Chiefs were suspended with the score tied, 2-2, on Opening Night at O'Brien Field in Peoria on Thursday. The game will be resumed Friday at 5:00 pm, followed by Friday scheduled game, played to nine innings.
 
The game was delayed 56 minutes by rain after the completion of the 8th inning.
 
Kernels starter Max Russell allowed a run on six hits, walked two and struck out six over 6 IP, but won't figure into the final decision. Brandon Decker and Jean Almanzar both have hit solo home runs for the Kernels.

Cedar Rapids will play a four game series in Peoria before returning to Eastern Iowa for its home opener on Monday against Wisconsin.
