12-year-old arrested for Tama bomb threat

Toledo police have arrested a 12-year-old boy for a bomb threat at South Tama County Middle School.

According to the superintendent, a written threat was found outside the middle school at the end of the school day on March 29. School officials cancelled parent-teacher conferences that night and cancelled school the next day to investigate the threat. Toledo police, fire department and the Cedar Rapids bomb squad investigated and found no device at the school.

On Monday, police charged a 12-year-old boy from Tama with intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Authorities say the boy is a student at the middle school and the investigation has been turned over to the Tama County Juvenile Probation office.
