Hawkeye Cornerback Willie Lowe asks to transfer

Iowa Hawkeye senior cornerback Willie Lowe told ESPN.com that he was one of the 13 Hawk players who was hospitalized with Rhabdomyalysis following off season workouts in January.

Lowe says he still hasn't regained the 20 pounds he lost and has only been able to start working out Monday.

Lowe says he's not sure if he'll play football again and he has asked to be released by the Hawks to transfer to another school.

Iowa athletic director Gary Barta confirmed Lowe's desire to transfer in a statement writing, ''I can confirm that William Lowe has requested permission to talk with other schools. While we've honored that request, our interest is for him to remain a Hawkeye."

Barta also said Hawkeye medical officials cleared all 13 players to resume physical activities.
