DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque County Jail inmate that escaped late Tuesday morning has been caught.

Jeffrey D. Hess, 25, was working in the jail's kitchen when he walked out of the building through a fire escape door.

Hess was serving a sentence of 180 days for his second domestic assault offense and for violation of probation for domestic assault.

Cpt. Mike Muenster says Hess was arrested peacefully at about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday at 2062 White Street in Dubuque.

Hess was taken back to the Dubuque County Jail and now faces a new charge of escape.
