NAME RELEASED: Shooting investigation in Chickasaw Co.

Officials in Chickasaw County have released the name of a man found dead in his home late Sunday night. 45-year-old James Tucker, was found dead, as a result of a shooting.

The DCI and Chickasaw County Sheriff's Department were called to a home in the 2000 block of 165th Street around midnight Sunday. That's about four miles north of New Hampton. But so far, it's not being called a homicide.

"We had almost a full staff out there working on it along with three DCI agents.  And we've still got some DCI agents dedicated to it along with several deputies," said Chickasaw County Sheriff Marty Larsen.

And it's a rare investigation for local law enforcement.  This is only the second shooting in Chickasaw County in the past decade.

"Well I hate to see it happen in the rural areas. Usually you think something Like that would happen in the urban areas. But before I get all the facts on this, I wouldn't be able to tell you what the circumstances are behind it," Sheriff Larsen said.

But even in the small, rural area, few people knew much about the people that lived in the home where the shooting took place.  They just say it's frightening to have such a violent activity happen nearby.

"It's very scary and you probably don't even want to go out after dark anymore," said Janet Schwickerath, who lives near the home where the shooting happened.

But authorities insist the community is not in danger and hope to release more details about their investigation soon.

The DCI continues to investigate and no other details are being released.
