Waterloo Police have arrested a Dysart man for impersonating a public official.

Austin Lee Reding, 20, was arrested Thursday after police say he posted several comments on KCRR's Facebook page claiming to be a Waterloo Firefighter and Paramedic.

Police say Reding claimed to have pulled Clifton Antonio Jenes form the Cedar River on Wednesday after Jenes jumped in from the 4th Street Bridge following a police chase.

In one of the posts, Reding claimed that he had been a Waterloo Firefighter for two years.  Several people called him out on it and the postings were turned over to police.

When interviewed by Waterloo Police, Reding admitted to posting the comments.

Reding is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
