Hawkeye College names new president

Hawkeye Community College has named its new president.

Tuesday night, the Hawkeye Community College Board of Trustees named Dr. Linda Allen as president. Allen has been working as interim president for the past six months.

Board Chair, Mark Birdnow said that Allen is an excellent candidate with outstanding credentials and experience.

Before coming to Hawkeye, Allen worked as executive dean of arts and humanities at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

"I just really have a great time working here. I really think this is an amazing community. I've enjoyed all of the people I've worked with. I serve on local boards and I really enjoy that and so I just think Hawkeye is the right place for me," said Allen.

Allen says she will be focusing on the college's new strategic plan that gives the college its focus for the next three years. The plan will be unveiled this spring and implemented in the fall.
