Speech festival at University of Northern Iowa

There was no shortage of communication in Cedar Falls on Monday.  The University of Northern Iowa hosted the Iowa High School Speech Association's annual festival.

Four-hundred students from nearly 200 schools were all in one place to showcase their talents.  The festival had everything from acting, to improvisation, poetry, public address and even news.

"These high school kids really know how to delve down, get the emotions going, make you laugh, make you cry. The storytelling, you just want to sit there and become a kid again because they're just right there with you, so it's great," judge John Gibson said.

This was the 33rd year for the festival.  It's non-competitive and is just a chance for these young people to grow as communicators.
