Mayors for Meals delivery day in Cedar Valley

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Wednesday was a delivery day for leaders in eastern Iowa.

Waterloo Mayor Buck Clark and several Black Hawk County supervisors joined more than 1,000 mayors across the country for an event to show support for the older people in their community.

This is the seventh year that the Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging has participated in the Mayors for Meals program.

This event gave these community leaders time to get away from their daily routine and serve their neighbors.

"There are so many of our citizens that are shut-ins that can't get out for one reason or another that are infirmed and this whole aging program that we have in Black Hawk County and Waterloo and Cedar Falls is just an incredible program that provides a service that nobody else is providing and without it these folks would really suffer," Mayor Buck Clark said.

The Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging serves a total of 1,100 meals daily throughout ten counties.
