EPA checks for contaminants in Le Mars

LE MARS (KWWL) -- Federal officials want to know whether groundwater contaminants from an old Le Mars coal gas plant have spread.  The Environmental Protection Agency plans to drill three study wells on the northeast side of town. Land under the former Le Mars Coal gas plant there is occupied by the city's public works department.  EPA official Dan Garvey says residents are not drinking contaminated groundwater and that the new wells won't have any effect on them.
