Board of Regents approve tuition hike

AMES (KWWL) -- Starting next fall, students attending Iowa's three state-run universities will be paying higher tuition.

The Iowa Board of Regents approved a five percent increase on Wednesday to offset dwindling state aid.

The increase means in-state undergraduates at University of Iowa would pay $308 more and $306 more at Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa for the academic year beginning next fall.

Iowa's News Channel 7's Jason Epner is at the meeting and will have more on the tut ion increase and University of Iowa President Sally Mason's report to the board on the hospitalization of 13 football players.
