CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Police have charged a woman with robbing two pharmacies in less than 12 hours.

28-year-old Tiffany Carlton is accused of robbing the Walgreens at 3325 16th Avenue SW at 6:47 a.m and Medicap Pharmacy at 2030 6th Street SW.

In the first robbery, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says a woman walked into the store to get medication that she didn't want to pay for.

Hamblin says the pharmacist saw the woman at the counter holding a handgun. The pharmacist ran out the back door and called 911. The robber did order a female customer to the ground at gunpoint. The robber than ran from the store.

A K-9 unit was able to track her scent across 16th Avenue SW to 12th Avenue SW where the scent ended.

Police are unsure if the woman actually took anything.

The second robbery happened at 3:56 p.m.

Hamblin says a woman walked into the store armed with a handgun and took narcotics.

The suspect in the second robbery was taken into custody about 20 minutes later.  Police have linked Carlton to both robberies. She faces two counts of second degree robbery.

No one was hurt in either robbery.
