Cedar Rapids Police investigating Walgreens robbery


CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a morning robbery at the Walgreens at the corner of 16th Avenue SW and Edgewood Road.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says a woman came into the store at 3325 16th Avenue SW at about 6:47 a.m. Tuesday morning for medication that she didn't want to pay for.

Hamblin says the pharmacist saw the woman at the counter holding a handgun.  The pharmacist ran out the back door and called 911.  The robber did order a female customer to the ground at gunpoint.  The robber than ran from the store.

A K-9 unit was able to track her scent across 16th Avenue SW to 12th Avenue SW where the scent ended.

No one was hurt and police are unsure if the woman actually took anything.

The suspect is described as a white female, 5'2" - 5'4", thin build and was wearing a dark green hoodie and a mask with the nose cut out.
