Furious comeback falls short, UNI bows out to MSU 69-66

WICHITA (KWWL) -- UNI's Erin Brocka didn't get a great look as her 3 pointer fell short at the buzzer allowing Michigan State to escape with a 69-66 victory in the NCAA tournament first round.

The 14th seeded Panthers (27-6) put up a big fight, but their final rally came just a little late.  UNI fell behind by 14 early in the second half, but chipped away before falling by 3 in the end.

Jacqui Kalin led the UNI effort with 21 points, while K.K. Armstrong chipped in 17.

The loss ends the most successful season in UNI history.  The Panthers won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title for the first time ever, while picking up their second straight conference tournament title.  UNI had won 19 consecutive games before falling to the Spartans.
