Top 10 worst intersections for red light running in Iowa City

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The Iowa City Council will continue to discuss installing red light cameras at their March 21 meeting.  In preparation for that discussion, they have compiled the 10 worst intersections for crashes involving red light runners.

They are:

- Market St. & Dubuque St., 29 of 96 crashes (30%)
- Jefferson St. & Gilbert St., 19 of 71 crashes (27%)
- Highway 6 & Sycamore St., 27 of 119 crashes (23%)
- Highway 1 & Orchard St., 14 of 67 crashes (21%)
- Jefferson St. & Dubuque St., 11 of 62 (18%)
- Highway 6 & Boyrum St., 16 of 100 (16%)
- Burlington St. & Gilbert St., 14 of 114 crashes (12%)
- Burlington St. & Riverside Dr., 15 of 131 (11%)
- Burlington St. & Madison St., 9 of 91 crashes (10%)
- Burlington St. & Clinton St., 9 of 117 crashes (8%)

The information is from the Iowa Department of Transportation and includes crashes from 2001 through 2010.
