Pit bulls attack lab, injure three in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Waterloo Police say two pit bulls got loose from a fenced-in yard and severely injured a black lab.  The lab's owner was also injured.

Authorities responded to the 500 block of Reed Street just after 11 a.m. Thursday.  Police say a woman was walking her black lab and pushing a baby in a stroller when the two pit bulls got out of a nearby yard.  The pit bulls attacked the lab, knocking over the baby stroller and causing minor injuries to the infant.  The woman also sustained minor injuries when the dogs were attacking each other.

Animal control took all three animals.  It's up to the owner of the pit bulls if they should be euthanized.  If not, the owner will likely be required to carry dangerous dog insurance.  The black lab may not survive the attack.
