Edgy Hawkeye Women prepare for NCAA's

IOWA CITY (KWWL)--The Iowa Hawkeye women are preparing to travel a couple of thousand miles to Spokane, Washington to face a very tough Gonzaga team in the first round of the NCAA Women's basketball tournament.

The sixth seeded Hawks are the higher seed, but will play the 11th seeded Zags on their home floor.

When asked if her players would compete as if they had a chip on their shoulders,  Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder had this response:

"I think we have to look at it as a chip on the shoulder for one thing everyone in the country thinks we're beat already. We might as well not even go out there. Every media person you talk to thinks we're not the team that's going to win and it's going to be UCLA playing Gonzaga for the next game so--that kind of irritates you as a competitor that every body has counted you out."

The Hawks and Zags tip it off Saturday at 3pm.
