UNI Concert Chorale headed to Carnegie Hall

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)-- A group of UNI students is heading to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall.

UNI's Concert Chorale will premiere Doctor David Child's "festival te Deum".

The piece was written specially for the group to perform after Child's attended one of their concerts at UNI. The group has been rehearsing since January.

It's conductor Dyan Meyers' first time performing in Carnegie Hall.

"We have our own 20 minute set of music that we've been working on all semester, so we'll be able to perform that set at that concert as well. And then we're going to go see a Broadway play, "The Lion King", and then just take in New York the rest of the time we're there and not rehearsing," said Meyers.

The group leaves for New York Thursday morning with their performance on Monday.

Meyers said they will also do an impromptu performance at Ground Zero Friday.
