DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Last week at the state tournament, Linn-Mar senior Matt Bohannon was able to able to his list of accolades earning all tournament team captain honors, scoring a tournament high 75 points, being named tournament MVP, keeping the Lions with an unblemished record and winning a state championship
"It's just a great feeling, indescribable," Bohannon says, "unless your part of the team you probably won't understand like we do but it's a great honor for us.''
"He's really proven himself these last few years of how great a player he is and I have no doubt we'll do awesome at UNI and it was a great to send him out on top with all the other seniors, says junior point guard Marcus Paige.
The future Panther follows in his older brother Jason, and Zach Bohannon footsteps upholding the family legacy of winning a state championship.
"Nobody knows how much this means to Matt Bohannon," Lions head coach Chris Robertson says, "and now he can sit at the Thanksgiving dinner table with his brothers and talk about championships and I couldn't be more happy for him."
Panther head coach Ben Jacobson knows he's getting a player that will fit right in at UNI.
"He was able to get in the lane, get some points, he was able to get to the free throw line and so that versatility has served us well with some of the guys that have gone through our program the last few years and I think Matt will bring that as well," said Jacobson.
