Waterloo band enters Folgers Jingle Contest

WATERLOO (KWWL)-- The Folgers coffee jingle turns 26 years old this year. For the last two years, people across the country have been trying to recreate "The best part of waking up" jingle as part of a contest.

The Waterloo Christian band Ultra Feel'n has only been together for about five months now, but hope this jingle will jumpstart their career.

Writing really comes easy for Tanara Colson.

"I could write a jingle about KWWL if you wanted me to. But I just write. It just comes to me. I was just thinking about breakfast and different things and we try to sort through at breakfast time," said Colson.

So when Colson's son came to the band one day asking if they wanted to enter this year's Folgers Jingle Contest she said of course yes.

This Waterloo band is one of the only bands in Iowa to enter the jingle contest.

"We will always keep Iowa as our main vocal point in bringing stuff here and as far as supporting our home," said band member Jamie Sallis.

Although winning the jingle contest would be the ultra goal for Ultra Feel'N, they say one of their main goals is to just be a positive influence in the Waterloo community.

"A lot of people have talent, musical talent and it hasn't been birthed yet and we want to be able to show them, reinforce to them that they can do it and basically give them the hope within themselves so they can grow into great musicians," said Sallis.

Voting will start March 31st and ends April 25th. You can vote at folgers.com.
