UPDATE: Former college dean pleaded guilty in sex case

DAVENPORT (KWWL) -- The former dean of a technical college campus in Cedar Rapids appeared in federal court Monday in Davenport, to change his plea on charges he attempted to have sex with an underage girl. He was taken into custody after pleading guilty to the charges. He had been free on bond.

Authorities say Terry Campie had planned to meet a 14-year-old girl he had been talking to on the Internet. At the time, Campie was the dean of the ITT Technical Institute campus in Cedar Rapids.

Campie drove from his home in Iowa City to Clinton where he was arrested outside a fast food restaurant on April 30, 2010 when he attempted to meet the underage girl. The 14-year-old girl didn't actually exist. Authorities say Campie had been talking to an investigator posing as a teenage girl.

Campie had originally pleaded non-guilty. His trial was scheduled for next week at the federal courthouse in Davenport.
