Starmont High School shows their school spirit

ARLINGTON (KWWL) -- A cheerful group of high school students at Starmont High School showed off their school spirit Friday morning on Today In Iowa.

"We have some great kids here.  They are very enthusiastic.  They are really dedicated to the school," said High School Principal and Superintendent Matt O'Loughlin.

Starmont will attend the state speech contest on Saturday.  Speech coach Miranda Beyer says there will be nearly 1,000 speech performers at the state competition and Starmont is sending 23 students.

Track is also approaching and the girls squad is getting ready for the indoor conference meet at Cornell College.  Head girls track coach Roger Reed woke his girls team up at 5:15 to practice Friday morning before the big Today In Iowa pep rally.
