Former Hawkeye sentenced on assault charge

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Former Hawkeye Abe Satterfield was sentenced Wednesday by written order on an assault charge.

Satterfield was charged with 2nd degree sexual abuse, 3rd degree sexual abuse and assault with intent to conflict serious injury after a reported sex assault in Hillcrest Residence Hall in October 2007.  His former teammate, Cedric Everson, was also charged in the incident.

Satterfield pleaded guilty to the assault charge last year in exchange for his testimony against Everson.

Satterfield was sentenced to two days in jail, a fine of $625, and must pay $326 in restitution to the victim. A no contact order against him has been extended for five years.  With two days credit for time served, Satterfield will not serve anymore time in jail.

Everson is scheduled to be sentenced on April 22 at 11:00 a.m.
