Former Waterloo West teacher will stand trial

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A former Waterloo West teacher accused of having inappropriate contact with a student will stand trial.

James Metcalf, the attorney for Larry David Twigg, 53, filed a motion last week to have the case dismissed.

Judge Nathan Callahan has denied that motion, which means Twigg will stand trial.

Police say that Twigg had a 17-year-old male student come to his house in 2009 and 2010 and perform illegal acts.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Thursday and the trial is scheduled to begin on March 15.
