Cedar Rapids man charged with abusing infant

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A Cedar Rapids man is charged with abusing his 46-day old daughter.

After a six-week investigation, police arrested Timothy Shane Adam Holderfield, 25, of Cedar Rapids.

Police say they were called to St. Luke's Hospital on January 20 after Holderfield brought his daughter to the emergency room.  They say the girl, who was 46-days old at the time, had broken ribs that were consistent with abuse and had older fractures that were healing.

Police say he abused the girl on several different occasions, breaking her clavicle, ribs and causing bruising to her chest and face.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says the girl was in care of both Holderfield and her mother, but the investigation revealed that Holderfield was the abuser.  The believe the abuse happened inside Holderfield's mobile home.

The girl is in the care of the Iowa Department of Human Services and is recovering, according to Hamblin.
