WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Police have now charged an arson suspect with Murder in the First Degree after a woman's body was discovered at a house fire in January.

On Jan. 31, emergency crews responded to a house fire at 2861 Logan Avenue. Inside, they found the body of 57-year-old Sandra Jo Nash.

Police arrested 50-year-old Glen Dean Jackson and charged him with Arson in the First Degree. He's been held in the Black Hawk County Jail since his arrest.

On Monday, Jackson was charged with Murder in the First Degree. His bond is set at $1 million.

After completing an autopsy, Nash's death was ruled a homicide. Police say Nash died from blunt force trauma, and that Jackson had a large amount of blood and gasoline on his clothing. Police also found a hammer in the area where Nash's body was found.

Police say Jackson admitted to arguing with Nash and pushing her down during questioning.

Jackson was also injured in the fire and was hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics prior to his arrest for arson.
