After settlement, UI to name new health HR leader

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The University of Iowa says it will soon name a human resources official to manage its health care workforce after the previous administrator resigned.

UI spokesman Tom Moore says a search committee has met several times to narrow a pool of 69 applicants in the search for its next associate vice president for human resources and a hiring decision is expected soon. This time, someone with prior experience in the health care sector will likely be picked.

Whoever is chosen will replace Chad Simmons, a former Kraft Foods executive hired in January 2009.

Simmons resigned last May. The university cut him a check worth two years of his $225,000 annual salary. The payment was called for under his contract if he was let go without cause.
