Casino spending in Iowa drops

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Spending by Iowa's casinos dropped again last year.

A new state report shows the industry spent $22 million less than last year for a total of about $945 million.  It's the lowest amount of spending in 5 years.  Officials say the lower spending reflects the state of the economy.

State records say gross gambling revenue at Iowa's casinos fell 3.5% for the state fiscal year ending June 30.
