TAMA (KWWL) -- Tama Police say a stolen pickup truck parked on train tracks was destroyed by a train early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on the Union Pacific line on a flood dike on the western edge of town.  Nobody was hurt because nobody was in the truck at the time of the crash.

Tama's police chief says two teens now face charges for allegedly stealing the truck. Anthony Reitinger, 18, and Kolby Starits, 17, are charged with Second Degree Theft. Reitinger also faces arson charges from an earlier incident. Police say the truck was stolen from a person in Tama.

Mark Davis, a media spokesperson for Union Pacific, says the tracks were closed for a few hours for inspection.  No damage was found on the tracks.  Davis says the train was carrying freight of all kinds from Des Moines to Chicago.  He says the crash is not causing any delays.  Davis says there is a 90% chance there was a camera on the front of the train, but the video recorded is used for internal corporate purposes and there is no chance it will ever be released for public viewing.

Police say this is the first time this has ever happened in Tama.
