African Americans and Hispanics may have tougher retirement than whites

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The retirement years may be more challenging for African-American and Hispanic households.

A Washington Post Kaiser Family Foundation survey shows one in four African Americans and one in six Hispanics own stocks, bonds or mutual funds.

That compares to about half of caucasion workers.

And about 65 percent of white Americans have 401K accounts, compared to 46 percent of blacks and 32 percent of Hispanics.
