Nathan Wright: Athlete of the Week

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Nathan Wright of Waterloo East has been bowling his entire life, and now the senior is on the cuffs of the biggest meet of his young career and has taken the Trojans anchor roll and ran with it.

"He's come on as a leader, he's come on as our anchor bowler and just this is his senior year and he's planning on going out with a bang," says East Head Coach Nikita Rainey-Thomas.

Leading the Trojans the left-handed Wright has averaged 230 pins per round this season and boasts a two game high of 536. In the sub-state meet last week, Wright bowled a 468 en route to becoming sub-state champion.

All ten down a frame at a time has been the Trojans philosophy and it has worked this season, finishing conference with an 11-0 mark and a second trip to the state tournament in as many years and Nathan Wright says the team knows what they need to do.

"We know what we need to do to win that's for sure, a lot of it is getting used to people behind you. You have like 700 people standing behind. You get used to the whole atmosphere there."
