Phone call puts school on lockdown

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Prairie Edge Elementary School in Cedar Rapids was under a lockdown Tuesday morning because of phone call received from a parent.

Liz Mathis, spokesperson for Four Oaks, says a staff member in the Head Start program received a phone call from a parent that seemed to be threatening.  She says there was no direct threat made to the school and no one entered the school.  She added that there was also no threat to students and the lockdown was preventative.

Mathis says the lock down ended just after noon.

Steve Doser, spokesperson for the College Community School District, says the school is run by his district but is located on the Four Oaks campus.  He adds that the school is for students with behavior issues.

The school is located at 5400 Kirkwood Boulevard SW.
