Hawkeye CC to host manufacturing workshop, job fair


WATERLOO (KWWL)— If you're looking for a job, you just might be in luck.  Hawkeye Community College will soon offer a manufacturing workshop and job fair.  It's set for  Monday, March in Tama Hall on the Hawkeye campus from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.

Individuals seeking employment in assembly, electrical work, machining, and welding may attend, as well as those with previous manufacturing experience.  The workshop begins at will include information on manufacturing in the 21st century, what it takes to work in manufacturing, and what you need to know to be successful.  Job predictions state that the fastest-growing occupations of the next decade will reinforce the demand for highly skilled workers. 

The application process will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Individuals can apply for positions with the following companies:  Black Hawk Engineering, Greater Machining and Manufacturing, GMT Corporation, HyPro Incorporated, and Power Engineering and Manufacturing.  The starting wages will range from $9.75/hour to $18.75/hour based on education and experience.
