Farmers getting ready for the upcoming plant

JESUP (KWWL)-- It won't be long now before farmers start getting out in those fields as it's only a couple of months until planting season.

You could say Ben Riensche and his crew are ready to get into the fields.

"Every farmer lives to put in a crop and take it out so of course we are looking forward to the first day in the field," said Riensche.

Jordan Lamker works for Riensche with Blue Diamond Farming. With snow still in the fields, his job now is prepare for spring to arrive.

"Now we are just doing equipment repairs. Getting ready for spring preparation pretty much," said Lamker.

While this work is important, Lamker says it doesn't beat getting out in the fields.

"In the tractor. Its the best part," Lamker said.

Riensche says this Iowa weather doesn't really bother him as much. He says right now they are getting ready to get out in the fields and hope to do that very soon

"There is still quit a bit of frost in the ground right now, but the recent rains will help take that out. We have gotten rid of the snow pack and if we had more days like the day it got to 50 degrees last week we could certainly get in the field as little as 30 days. But hoping for April 1st," Riensche said.
