Animal shelter reopening after rescuing 35 pets

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control shelter will reopen Tuesday at noon after being closed over the weekend to process 35 pets that were seized from a home on Friday.

Even though the shelter will be open, it will still be closed to the public because of the influx of animals.

"This situation has definitely put a strain on our staff, volunteers and resources, but we want to do our best to continue with ‘business as usual' while we work through this," Program Manager Diane Webber said in a written statement.

Anyone looking for a lost pet can call the shelter at 286-5993 to arrange a time to reclaim that pet.
