UNI wrestlers win WWC title with win over #24 Wyoming

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- UNI took down #23 Wyoming 19-13 to finish a perfect 5-0 season in WWC action, while capturing their 4th conference crown.  The win was the Panthers' second over a ranked team this season.

UNI won 6 of 10 matches on the day, with Andy O'Laughlin picking up the only bonus points with a 10-2 major decision at 197.  O'Laughlin's victory put UNI up 16-13 in the match, while Christian Brantley sealed the deal at heavyweight with a 2-1 win over Matthew McLaughlin.

The Panthers fell in the marquis match at 184.  Ryan Loder of UNI, ranked 7th, took an early lead over #5 Joe LeBlanc.  LeBlanc, however re-captured the edge in the second period and preserved the win with an escape in the final 20 seconds for a 6-5 win.
